You may have noticed that every time you open My Computer to browse the folder that there is a slight delay. this is because Windows XP automatically searches for network file and printers every time you open the windows explorer. to fix this problem and to increase the browsing significantly follow the below steps:
a: My computer
b: Click on tools menu
c: Click on Folder option
d: Click on view tab
e: Un check the automatically search for network folders and printers check box
f: Click Apply
g: Click OK
h: Reboot the computer
